(Battambang): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced plans to rehabilitate 21 major roads and construct seven new roads totalling 11 kilometres in Battambang city, with work expected to begin in November 2026.

The premier spoke on Thursday morning (Oct. 8) while presiding over the graduation ceremony for 2,001 students at the University of Management and Economics in Battambang province.

Samdech Thipadei said bidding for the 21 roads is nearly complete, while seven additional roads have been approved with national and sub-national funding.

He added that the projects will include drainage systems to improve road durability and flood management.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also highlighted that the improvements aim to ease transportation, boost local economic activity and support Battambang’s development ahead of the 2027 New Year.
