(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that Cambodia will not permit investment in e-cigarette or vape production, citing regulatory challenges and public health risks, particularly among youth.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Oct. 7) while presiding over the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the University of Health Sciences in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei stated that he has instructed relevant ministries and investment authorities to reject proposals for domestic production, including for export.

“If they request investment to produce e-cigarettes or vapes in Cambodia, we will not accept it,” the premier said, noting that regulating imported products is already challenging.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that Cambodia will also maintain its strict stance against cannabis cultivation, stressing that protecting public health and the future of Cambodians takes priority.
