(Pursat): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet warned against making accusations he said disparage Cambodian troops defending the country’s territorial integrity.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Oct. 1) during the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 10 in Pursat province.
“Criticising the government is one thing, but unjustly attacking our troops and our heritage is another,” he said.
“Do not look down on the morale of our army. They give their flesh and blood to defend our territorial integrity,” the premier added.
Samdech Thipadei rejected allegations that Cambodian forces targeted Thai civilians, maintaining that troops struck only military positions in response to attacks.
The prime minister also rejected allegations concerning damage to Cambodian temples, saying drone footage showing trenches had been used to accuse Cambodian troops. He maintained that the trenches were civilian shelters and argued that civilians are not prohibited from constructing shelters in conflict areas.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei said Cambodia had presented evidence concerning damage to its cultural heritage, including to UNESCO.
