(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet approved a minimum wage of USD 212 per month for workers in the textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods and bag sectors in 2027, following a USD 2 increase to the figure endorsed by the National Council for Minimum Wage.

The decision came after the council’s final meeting on Wednesday morning (Sep. 30), during which representatives voted on two proposals: USD 210 from employers and USD 225 from trade unions.

Following tripartite negotiations, the USD 210 proposal secured 47 of 51 votes. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet subsequently approved an additional USD 2 to support workers’ livelihoods, raising the minimum wage from USD 210 in 2026 to USD 212 in 2027.

The new minimum wage will take effect on January 1, 2027.

In addition to their basic salary, workers will continue to receive existing allowances and benefits, including USD 7 per month for travel and accommodation, a USD 10 monthly attendance bonus, and a meal allowance of 2,000 riel per day or one free meal for voluntary overtime.

Workers with two to 11 years of service will also receive seniority allowances ranging from USD 2 to USD 11 per month.

With these additional benefits, workers’ total monthly earnings could range from USD 229 to USD 240 or more, depending on their eligibility for allowances.
