(Phnom Penh): The American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) is proud to welcome two outstanding Cambodian students, Thorn Rinsopheak and Sim Mouchhiv, to the AUPP community following their exceptional achievements in Cambodia’s National Outstanding Student Competition.

Thorn Rinsopheak was recognized as the Outstanding Student No. 1 in Mathematics, while Sim Mouchhiv achieved Outstanding Student No. 1 in Physics. Their achievements demonstrate their dedication to academic excellence, perseverance, and passion for learning.

AUPP has long been committed to recognizing and supporting high-achieving students. Through its scholarship initiative for students who demonstrate exceptional performance in the National Outstanding Student Competition, AUPP awarded full scholarships to the Top 3 Grade 12 students and 75% scholarships to students who placed fourth and fifth, providing more outstanding students with opportunities to pursue higher education.

The National Outstanding Student Competition, organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS Cambodia), recognizes academic excellence among students across Cambodia. The 2026 competition was held on April 26, 2026, at Chea Sim Santhormok High School, with students competing in Khmer Literature, Mathematics, and Physics. The competition aims to promote academic excellence, elevate educational standards, and encourage a culture of learning and perseverance among Cambodian students.

AUPP’s scholarship initiative continues to create pathways for talented students to pursue higher education and develop their academic and leadership potential. Three students who received scholarships through the initiative last year are now studying at AUPP, continuing their educational journeys within the university community.

As Rinsopheak and Mouchhiv begin their journey at AUPP, the university looks forward to supporting them as they continue to learn, grow, and pursue their aspirations.
