(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra called for stronger international cooperation in information sharing, cross-border investigations, law enforcement capacity building, tracking illicit financial flows and victim protection.

Speaking at the International Conference on Combating Online Scams (ICCOS) on Wednesday (Sep. 23), Neth Pheaktra said fighting transnational crime requires cooperation based on respect for international law, national sovereignty and shared responsibility.

He said Cambodia’s hosting of ICCOS demonstrates the Kingdom’s openness to working with other countries and international organisations to address cross-border challenges.

The minister also highlighted the participation and support of organisations including INTERPOL, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (UNODC), and the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center (LMLECC) as part of the broader collective effort.

“We want to see this shared commitment translated into continued coordination and concrete actions whose results can be monitored and measured,” he said.

Cambodia expressed hope that international partners will adopt the Phnom Penh Declaration on 24 September 2026, reflecting a shared commitment among participating countries and organisations to strengthen cooperation against technology-enabled fraud.
