(Phnom Penh): Nicholas Court, Director of INTERPOL’s Task Force Coordination Directorate, commended Cambodia for its strong political and strategic commitment to combating fraud, as the kingdom brings together hundreds of participants from across the world to strengthen international cooperation against the growing threat.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Fresh News, Court said he was impressed by both the organization of the international conference and the level of commitment demonstrated by Cambodia in addressing fraud.

“What strikes me is the level of political and strategic willingness in Cambodia to fight fraud,” he said, adding that this commitment has increased in recent years.

He noted that a similar trend can be observed internationally, with governments and relevant institutions placing greater political emphasis on combating fraud as the scale and impact of the crime continue to grow.

Nicholas Court also congratulated Cambodia for convening representatives from different countries and international organizations, providing a platform for stakeholders to come together and strengthen cooperation in tackling the challenge.

The INTERPOL official also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the conference and contribute to discussions on combating fraud.

Cambodia is hosting the two-day conference from 23 to 24 September 2026 at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra Hotel, bringing together governments and key stakeholders to strengthen international cooperation against the growing global threat of online scams.

Held under the theme “Acting Together towards Breaking the Chain and Eradication of Online Scams,” ICCOS-2026 provides a platform for participating countries and international partners to strengthen coordination, exchange experiences and develop collective approaches to disrupting transnational scam networks.
