(Prey Veng): Nearly 40 national and international media outlets, represented by 78 journalists, on Monday (Sep. 21) visited a former online scam site at Meun Chey Commercial Park, also known as 8 Park, in Krabau commune, Kamchay Mear district, Prey Veng province.

The media visit was organised by the Secretariat of the Ad Hoc Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS) and coordinated by the Ministry of Information ahead of Cambodia’s hosting of the International Conference on Combating Online Scams (ICCOS) in Phnom Penh on September 23-24.

According to Cambodian authorities, the site was developed in 2023 and later became a major operation employing thousands of foreign nationals. Subsequent investigations linked 8 Park to Prince Group, with authorities taking legal action against individuals connected to the site.

The visit comes as Cambodian authorities continue a nationwide crackdown on online scam operations. Between July 2025 and August 2026, more than 830 suspected scam locations were investigated, with 663 locations raided and 86 large-scale scam compounds dismantled. More than 20,000 foreign suspects were also deported during the period.

Authorities said enforcement efforts are continuing as scam networks increasingly shift from large-scale compounds to smaller and more fragmented operations, underscoring the need for stronger international cooperation to tackle the cross-border crime.

Cambodia will host the International Conference on Combating Online Scams (ICCOS) in Phnom Penh on September 23-24, bringing together representatives from more than 20 countries and three major international organisations to strengthen global cooperation against increasingly sophisticated transnational scam networks.

Held under the theme “Acting Together towards Breaking the Chain and Eradication of Online Scams,” the conference will convene senior government officials, policymakers, law enforcement agencies, financial regulators, cybersecurity experts, technology companies, academics, civil society organisations and international partners.
