(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State, expressed hope that Cyprus will expand its investment presence in Cambodia, highlighting trade, investment and economic cooperation as key areas for strengthening bilateral relations.

Samdech Techo received newly appointed Cypriot Ambassador Koula Sophianou at the Solidarity Palace on Thursday afternoon (Sep. 17).

According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, on behalf of the king, Samdech Techo welcomed and congratulated Koula Sophianou on her appointment as Cyprus’s ambassador to Cambodia. He expressed confidence that during her diplomatic tenure, the ambassador would contribute to further strengthening and advancing relations between Cambodia and Cyprus.

For her part, Koula Sophianou reaffirmed her commitment to deepening bilateral ties, particularly through greater cooperation in culture, people-to-people exchanges and the economy during her tenure.

Samdech Techo welcomed the ambassador’s commitment and underscored the potential for stronger economic, trade and investment cooperation. He encouraged both countries to explore new opportunities and mechanisms to expand bilateral trade and investment.

On the occasion, the acting head of state also expressed hope that Cypriot investors would increasingly explore opportunities in Cambodia, contributing to deeper economic ties and the broader development of Cambodia-Cyprus relations.
