(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on the public to maintain confidence in the Royal Government’s efforts to resolve territorial disputes peacefully and through international law, stressing that such processes require patience and sustained diplomatic and legal work.

Speaking at the inauguration of Luang Me Hospital on Wednesday (Sep. 16), the premier said Cambodia continues to use legal and bilateral mechanisms, including the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), to address outstanding border issues with Thailand.

On the maritime dispute, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highlighted Cambodia’s pursuit of compulsory conciliation under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) following Thailand’s unilateral termination of the 2001 MoU. He underlined that the process does not rule out direct negotiations but brings in an independent third party to facilitate a peaceful solution.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei urged the public to avoid emotion-driven conclusions, saying Cambodia’s legal and diplomatic teams remain actively engaged in defending the country’s territorial and maritime interests.
