(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Post and Telecommunications Minister Chea Vandeth represented Prime Minister Hun Manet at the inaugural International Space Summit in Paris, France, on 9-10 September 2026, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Jointly organised by France and Germany, the summit brought together more than 2,000 participants from over 90 countries, including heads of state and government, space ministers, international organisations and the private sector.

The summit aimed to promote the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space amid growing economic and strategic competition in the space sector. Cambodia endorsed three statements initiated by France.

On the sidelines, Minister Vandeth met separately with French Minister for Higher Education, Research and Space Philippe Baptiste and Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad Eléonore Caroit.

Vandeth and Baptiste discussed cooperation in satellite technology, space-related technical fields, and human resource training, while Caroit and Vandeth explored expanded Cambodia-France cooperation in AI, space, cybersecurity, quantum technology, and semiconductors.

The minister will next lead a Cambodian delegation on a working visit to space institutions and companies in Toulouse, a major aerospace hub in France and Europe.
