(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate First Vice President Ouch Borith joined an APF mission from 8 to 9 September 2026 in New York to seek support for the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) to obtain observer status at the UN General Assembly.
During the mission, led by APF President Nathalie Roy, Ouch Borith met representatives from several countries and Francophone organisations, stressing that observer status would strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and broaden parliamentarians' participation in multilateral dialogue.
He highlighted APF's 100 members across five continents and its potential contributions to peace, democracy, human rights, education, health, gender equality and sustainable development.
Ouch Borith also reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, UN principles, peacekeeping and demining. Cambodia will continue working with APF, Djibouti, OIF and partner countries to advance the proposal.
