(Phnom Penh): The Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) prepared more than USD 200 million in revolving capital to support Cambodia's rice sector and meet financing needs across the value chain.
ARDB Director General Kao Thach said the sector requires about USD 600 million annually, making commercial banks, private financial institutions and local investors vital to closing the financing gap.
He said stronger financing and cooperation from farmers and millers to exporters will help boost value-added production and the competitiveness of Cambodian rice in global markets.
ARDB aims to support the government's target of 1 million tonnes of rice exports annually, with Kao Thach expressing confidence the target could be achieved or exceeded through stronger cooperation with relevant institutions and the Cambodia Rice Federation.
