(Stung Treng): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that public contributions to Cambodia's border road construction have been managed transparently and used for the benefit of the nation, as the projects near completion.

Speaking at the inauguration of infrastructure achievements in Stung Treng province on Wednesday (Aug. 12), Samdech Thipadei invited citizens to visit the roads funded through the Border Infrastructure Construction Fund, stressing that the infrastructure belongs to the entire nation regardless of whether individuals contributed financially.

He also instructed engineers to install inscriptions along the roads acknowledging that they were built with contributions from the Cambodian people. He thanked citizens at home and abroad who donated to the fund.

Construction began on 1 November 2024 across four road sections spanning approximately 250 kilometres, including 147.42 kilometres in Mondulkiri and 97.48 kilometres in Ratanakiri. It is now more than 95 percent complete, with work in Mondulkiri Province reaching 100 percent.

The Border Infrastructure Construction Fund was launched on 26 August 2024 and closed on 31 October 2024. Over 66 days, it raised nearly USD 27 million from approximately 720,000 citizens and 105 organisations.

The prime minister said the initiative reflects broad public participation in strengthening border infrastructure and supporting Cambodia's long-term national development.
