(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that Cambodia’s four northeastern provinces have received 72 investment proposals worth approximately USD 2.7 billion, expected to create nearly 83,000 jobs.

Speaking at the inauguration of infrastructure achievements in Stung Treng province on Wednesday (Aug. 12), Samdech Thipadei said that of the 72 submitted projects, 57 projects have been reviewed and are moving forward.

The projects are supported by a special investment promotion programme targeting agriculture, agro-industry, and tourism, offering tax and customs incentives, preferential financing, and government support to reduce costs and streamline procedures.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Royal Government will continue attracting investment to foster employment and regional development. Nationwide, Cambodia had secured 214 foreign investment projects worth nearly USD 4 billion as of Aug. 7, potentially creating around 140,000 jobs.
