(Phnom Penh): The Japanese Embassy in Cambodia held a send-off reception for Cambodian fellows of the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) on Tuesday (Aug. 4) ahead of their departure to pursue graduate studies in Japan.

In a message shared on social media, Nagase Kensuke, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., extended his best wishes to the scholarship recipients, encouraging them to make the most of their academic journey.

“We wish all the JDS fellows a rewarding academic journey and a wonderful life in Japan. We look forward to seeing everyone play important roles in the future as bridges of friendship between Japan and Cambodia. Itterasshai (Bon Voyage).”

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) is currently offered in 19 countries, with Cambodia being one of the longest-standing recipient countries since the program's launch in 2000. To date, more than 580 Cambodian fellows have studied in Japan under the JDS program. Many graduates are now actively contributing to their fields of expertise at the core of Cambodian society and government.
