(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Justice Minister Koeut Rith met with Thomas Andrews, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia, on Thursday (Jul. 30) to discuss a range of justice and human rights issues, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation.

Welcoming Andrews and his delegation to the Ministry of Justice, Koeut Rith thanked the UN envoy for visiting displaced Cambodian communities along the Cambodia-Thailand border.

The minister also briefed Andrews on the latest developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border and reiterated Cambodia's commitment to resolving the dispute through peaceful means.

During the meeting, Koeut Rith highlighted the Royal Government's ongoing efforts to combat online scam networks, describing the issue as one of the government's highest priorities.

The discussions also covered key justice sector issues, including prison overcrowding, juvenile justice, drug-related challenges, and proposed legal reforms.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides pledged to strengthen their cooperation through continued dialogue and information sharing in support of the Cambodian people.
