(Phnom Penh): Yoshihisa Kainuma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MinebeaMitsumi Inc., said that the Cambodia-Thailand border tensions have not affected the company's production or transportation operations in Cambodia.

The assurance came during a courtesy meeting between Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and MinebeaMitsumi CEO Yoshihisa Kainuma at the Senate's Solidarity Palace on Tuesday (Jul. 28).

According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, Kainuma noted that although the border situation had caused some transportation challenges, it had not disrupted the company's overall operations or supply chain in Cambodia.

Kainuma also briefed Samdech Techo Hun Sen on MinebeaMitsumi's business expansion, highlighting the company's two factories in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone and Pursat province, which employ thousands of Cambodian workers. He added that the company is also developing a solar power facility in Pursat.

Reaffirming the company's confidence in Cambodia, Kainuma said investing in Cambodia remains a reliable choice and expressed no concerns over the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the company's continued growth and investment, saying MinebeaMitsumi's uninterrupted operations demonstrate the resilience of Cambodia's investment environment despite regional challenges.

On the occasion, the Senate president also encouraged the company and other Japanese investors to continue expanding their investments in Cambodia, noting that MinebeaMitsumi has maintained a strong partnership with the Cambodian government since his tenure as prime minister and continues to thrive under the administration of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
