(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Cambodian Senate President, sent a letter of appreciation to Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for her letter extending congratulations and best wishes to him on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism, according to a letter seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Jul. 22).

In the letter, Samdech Techo stated, “I wish to convey my sincere appreciation for your letter dated 29 June 2026 extending your congratulations and kind wishes to me and the Senate. I am equally pleased to reciprocate those warm sentiments and extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Your Excellency and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism.”

“I commend Azerbaijan’s leadership in advancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly through its visionary stewardship of the NAM Parliamentary Network. Against the backdrop of an increasingly complex and interconnected world, I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency to further deepen the cooperation between our legislative institutions. Through strengthened inter-parliamentary cooperation, engagement, and collaboration, I am confident that we can reinforce mutual trust, understanding and respect, while making meaningful contributions to regional and global peace, stability, and sustainable development,” he added.

Samdech Techo emphasised, “To advance these shared aspirations, parliaments must continue to play a proactive role in furthering dialogue, strengthening international cooperation and addressing the pressing challenges confronting the global community. In this spirit, Cambodia will have the honour to host the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in Phnom Penh in this late August.”
