(Phnom Penh): Japan provided 500 million yen (approximately USD 3 million) in Official Security Assistance (OSA) to Cambodia to strengthen the country's defence and security capabilities.

Japanese Ambassador Ueno Atsushi and Cambodian Minister of National Defence General Tea Seiha signed and exchanged notes for the project on Sunday (Jul. 19).

Under the agreement, Japan will supply communications equipment to the Royal Cambodian Army and patrol boats to the Royal Cambodian Navy.

Japan expressed its hope that the assistance will enhance Cambodia's security and deterrence capabilities while contributing to peace and stability within the international community.
