(Beijing): Aluminum Corporation of China (CHINALCO), one of China's largest state-owned aluminum producers, expressed interest in expanding its investments in Cambodia, with a focus on mining, steel production, infrastructure, and railway development.
CHINALCO President Wang Shilei made the remarks during his courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Wednesday (Jul. 15) in Beijing, China.
During the meeting, Wang outlined the company's global operations, highlighting its expertise in mining, infrastructure development, special economic zones, and railway construction. He also briefed the prime minister on the progress of ongoing projects in Cambodia, including feasibility studies on steel manufacturing and mineral resource development.
Building on these initiatives, Wang said CHINALCO is seeking additional investment opportunities that align with Cambodia's long-term economic development priorities.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the company's expansion plans and congratulated CHINALCO on its achievements, reaffirming the Royal Government's commitment to supporting both domestic and foreign investors through a favourable and predictable investment environment.
He also encouraged CHINALCO to work closely with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to turn potential investment opportunities into concrete projects.
CHINALCO is a major Chinese and world-leading aluminum producer, with operations spanning the entire aluminum value chain—from exploration and mining to processing, finished products, engineering, and technical services. It is the world's second largest alumina producer and the third largest primary aluminium provider. It operates in more than 20 countries and regions.
