(Geneva): Chea Vandeth, Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications, met with several international organisations and partner countries to strengthen Cambodia's digital cooperation during the Global Dialogue on AI Governance held in Geneva on Tuesday (Jul. 7).

The minister met with Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Under Secretary General and the Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies. During the meeting, Minister Chea Vandeth highlighted the Royal Government of Cambodia's efforts to enhance digital capacity across all levels of society through initiatives such as the Techo Digital Talent Scholarship, Community Technology Centres, and the Target Primary School Computer Room Project, as well as investments in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), including the verify.gov.kh platform.

Gill commended Cambodia's strong commitment and the success of the verify.gov.kh platform. He also invited Cambodia to showcase the platform on the UN Digital Cooperation Portal and to serve as a co-chair of the UN Open Source Week 2027.

In addition, Minister Chea Vandeth met with digital ministers from several African countries, including Mark-Alexandre Doumba (Gabon), Haliki Mahamat (Chad), Américo Muchanga (Mozambique), Samba Diouf (Senegal), and Djibril Ouattara (Côte d'Ivoire), to share Cambodia's experience in digital transformation.

On the occasion, the minister also invited his counterparts from the five countries to participate in Francotech, which will be held at the end of 2026 alongside the 20th Francophonie Summit, hosted by Cambodia.

Minister Chea Vandeth also met with Deemah AlYahya, Secretary General of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO), to further discuss potential areas of collaboration. AlYahya expressed interest in inviting Cambodia to join the DCO as a member, citing the country's internationally recognised achievements in digital transformation.

These efforts reflect Cambodia's implementation of its Digital Transformation Policy under the Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I, while reinforcing the country's commitment to multilateralism in digital cooperation.

The initiatives aim to strengthen Cambodia's national digital ecosystem and contribute to the development of stronger regional and global digital ecosystems.
