(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party, issued a message on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the Cambodian People's Party.

“28 June 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), which was originally named the Khmer People's Revolutionary Party and originated from the Cambodian people's resistance movement against colonialism for national independence. Since its inception, the Party has steadfastly adhered to its purpose and ideals: standing with the people, sharing their joys and sorrows, overcoming all obstacles, and daring to make great sacrifices for an independent, peaceful, free, democratic, neutral, and socially progressive Cambodia. During the period when the nation fell into the genocidal catastrophe caused by the Democratic Kampuchea regime of Pol Pot, the Party led the people to rise up and fight to overthrow this brutal regime, achieving a historic victory on 7 January 1979, which timely rescued the nation from annihilation.”
