(Beijing): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation as part of broader efforts to deepen Cambodia–China relations.
The commitment was made during their meeting on Thursday (Jun. 25) in Beijing as part of Samdech Techo Hun Sen's official goodwill visit to China.
According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, Zhao Leji warmly welcomed the Cambodian Senate President and his high-level delegation on their official visit.
During the meeting, Zhao Leiji described Cambodia and China as long-standing friends and "ironclad" partners that have consistently supported one another. He also recalled President Xi Jinping's state visit to Cambodia in 2025, saying it further strengthened the traditional friendship between the two countries and accelerated the implementation of the Cambodia–China All-Weather Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Zhao Leji for the warm hospitality and reaffirmed the enduring strength of Cambodia–China relations. He underlined that regardless of changes in the international landscape, the friendship between Cambodia and China remains steadfast.
He also highlighted the close cooperation between the two countries at the executive, party, and legislative levels, expressing his hope that both legislatures would play an even greater role in advancing bilateral ties alongside their respective governments and ruling parties.
Echoing those remarks, Zhao Leji underscored that Cambodia–China relations are founded on deep mutual trust that cannot be undermined by any external force. He expressed confidence that closer cooperation between the two legislatures would further strengthen the Cambodia–China All-Weather Community with a Shared Future in the New Era and contribute to the continued growth of bilateral relations.
