(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, announced that on Tuesday (Jun. 23), at 9:38 a.m., the Coordination Group(CLG) facilitated a field visit for the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by the Head of Mission of the ASEAN Observer Team (HOM AOT) from the Philippines, to observe, verify, and report on the border situation in Prey Chan Village, O’ Bei Choan Commune, O’Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

According to the spokesperson, this area was subjected to attacks, the installation of barbed wire, and the unlawful deployment of container structures by the Thai military. As a result, many Cambodian families have not yet been able to return to their homes. The visit also included monitoring compliance with and implementation of all measures stipulated in the Joint Statement following the entry into force of the ceasefire.

Cambodia categorically rejects any change to the border line resulting from the use of force. This underscores the absolute necessity for the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) to commence demarcation work as soon as possible, in accordance with the existing agreement as stated in point three of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, which aims to ensure that Cambodian innocent civilians can safely, peacefully, and with dignity return to their homes without any obstruction.

Cambodia has consistently extended its full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and stressed the indispensable importance of strengthening the AOT's role and mandate to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire and all measures agreed upon between Cambodia and Thailand. This is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and mutual trust, while always welcoming friendly countries willing to further assist in this mission.
