(Beijing): Cambodia’s Fresh News is participating in the Immersive Workshop for Asian Media Professionals in China, held from 22 June to 4 July 2026.
The programme brings together journalists from 19 Asian countries under the theme "China's Development and Media Exchanges." Representing Fresh News is English Chief Editor Sreu Rithiya.
Hosted in Beijing and Jiangsu Province, the workshop aims to help media professionals gain a comprehensive and objective understanding of China's current development, while providing in-depth insights into the evolution, operational models, and innovative practices of China's media industry. The programme also seeks to enhance regional media cooperation, strengthen professional capacity, and promote mutual understanding among Asian countries.
Participants attend lectures at the School of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China, covering topics such as digital media, governance, economic development, and international relations.
Founded in 1955, the School of Journalism and Communication has built a distinguished reputation for its strong academic heritage, outstanding faculty, and extensive influence in journalism and communication education. For decades, the school has been committed to advancing international exchanges and cooperation in journalism and communication, while providing a platform for global media professionals to learn, exchange ideas, and share experiences.
The programme also includes visits to major media organisations and innovation centres, along with exchanges with Chinese journalists. Field visits will take participants to artificial intelligence and robotics centres, autonomous driving zones, and industrial parks in Beijing, Suzhou, Nantong, and Nanjing.
The workshop emphasizes the importance of direct engagement and people-to-people exchanges in an increasingly digital world. While the internet and social media enable instantaneous cross-border communication, organisers note that digital connectivity cannot fully replace the firsthand experiences and meaningful interactions gained through in-person visits and face-to-face dialogue.
