(Phnom Penh): Lida Eve, Cambodia’s pioneering virtual influencer and recipient of the Best Digital Content of the Year award at the Cambodia Digital Awards 2025, is entering a new era of storytelling with the launch of “Love Exam” (វិញ្ញាសាស្នេហ៍), an AI-powered micro drama believed to be among the first of its kind in Cambodia.
The project represents an important milestone for Cambodia’s growing digital creative industry. Combining virtual influencer technology, human storytelling, AI-assisted production, Khmer youth culture, and short-form entertainment, “Love Exam” is designed for modern audiences who increasingly consume stories that are mobile-first, emotionally engaging, and character-driven.
Lida Eve first gained national recognition as a Cambodian-created virtual personality with a distinct identity, bilingual content, and an audience that connected with her beyond the novelty of technology. Her recognition at the Cambodia Digital Awards 2025, organized under the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, positioned her as one of Cambodia’s leading examples of digital content innovation.
Today, that journey evolves from influence to storytelling.
“Love Exam” follows the life of Lida, a university student in Phnom Penh struggling to balance family expectations, part-time work, academic pressure, friendships, and the complexities of first love. After facing academic and financial challenges, she is paired with Lay, a talented but emotionally reserved senior student. What begins as a tutoring arrangement gradually develops into a story about confidence, social pressure, ambition, self-discovery, and the quiet fear of not being enough.
The first season is planned as a 24-episode micro drama, structured across six story arcs and released over a three-month period. Through short episodes, emotional cliffhangers, and relatable youth experiences, the series explores everything from campus life and café shifts to late-night study sessions and the pursuit of success.
For Cambodia, the significance of this project extends beyond the use of artificial intelligence. More importantly, it demonstrates how AI can be used to tell authentic local stories rooted in Cambodian culture and experiences.
As micro dramas continue to gain popularity across Asia and beyond, “Love Exam” offers Cambodia an opportunity to participate in the format with its own unique voice. Rather than imitating global trends, the series seeks to demonstrate how Cambodian creators can embrace emerging technologies while preserving emotional authenticity, cultural identity, and human connection.
“Last year, Lida Eve was recognized as one of Cambodia’s most innovative digital content projects. This year, we wanted to take her beyond social media and into narrative storytelling,” said Niraj Gupta, Director of Macro Computing Solutions Co., Ltd. “Love Exam is not simply about AI. It is about demonstrating that Cambodia can create new forms of digital entertainment while keeping emotion, culture, and human experience at the center.”
The project also reflects a broader transformation within the creative economy. AI-powered tools are enabling smaller teams to experiment with formats that previously required substantial production budgets. For young Cambodian writers, designers, animators, and digital artists, this creates new opportunities—not to replace creativity, but to expand its possibilities.
From its inception, Lida Eve was designed to represent a modern Cambodian digital voice: rooted in local culture, thoughtful in perspective, bilingual in communication, and globally aware. “Love Exam” continues that vision by portraying a Cambodia that is youthful, emotionally intelligent, ambitious, and ready to innovate.
The series will be released through Lida Eve’s official digital platforms, with episodes scheduled to launch throughout June, July, and August.
