(Siem Reap): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, called on Thai media outlets to accurately report his remarks regarding Cambodia’s position on resolving border issues with Thailand, reaffirming that Cambodia’s approach is rooted in peaceful means rather than military action.
Speaking at a meeting with local councils and officials from Siem Reap and Oddar Meanchey on Wednesday (Jun. 10), Samdech Techo said his recent remarks at the “Waiting Village” displacement centre had been misrepresented by some Thai media outlets.
“I did not call for military measures,” Samdech Techo stated. “I clearly emphasized peaceful means, and this approach will remain part of the Cambodian People’s Party’s political platform for the 2027 and 2028 elections. The Cambodian People’s Party chooses peaceful solutions to resolve border issues with Thailand.”
Samdech Techo Hun Sen further urged Thai journalists and media outlets to recheck and correct their reports by quoting his remarks accurately and in full context. He added that political leaders should not rely solely on media interpretations, particularly when such reports may distort the original message.
