(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, praised the newly inaugurated headquarters of the General Department of Taxation as Cambodia’s largest government building, with a total floor area of 159,634 square meters.


During his visit on Tuesday (Jun. 2), he noted that the Peace Palace covers about 50,000 square meters and the Council of Ministers building around 57,000 square meters, while the new Tax Department headquarters exceeds 150,000 square meters, making it the largest state facility in the country.

He underscored that this project represents a significant milestone achieved through the initiative and dedication of the General Department of Taxation, with invaluable support from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as well as the Royal Government. He also praised its strategic location for boosting surrounding land values and urban development.

Built by Cambodian professionals, the complex showcases the country's growing engineering and construction capabilities. The facility combines modern technology with Khmer architectural elements to support administration, taxpayer services, and security operations.

The building was officially inaugurated on 21 May 2026 by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. It features a 30-storey administrative tower and a four-storey commercial building.
