(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate expressed its full support for the actions undertaken by the Royal Government of Cambodia in notifying the Thai side and the Secretary General of the United Nations of its decision to begin the compulsory conciliation procedure under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), according to the Senate’s motion seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Jun. 2).
The decision came after Thailand's withdrawal from the 2002 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which had served as the sole legal basis for bilateral negotiations aimed at seeking a peaceful settlement of the overlapping maritime claims between the two countries for more than 25 years.
