(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Park Joo Bong, Chairman of the Daejoo KC Group and President of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry from the Republic of Korea, to discuss investment and trade opportunities on Tuesday morning (May 26) at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh.
Park Joo Bong stated that South Korean investors are actively seeking further opportunities in Cambodia, with particular emphasis on the agricultural sector and cashew products, which have attracted significant interest.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Park Joo Bong and his delegation, expressing hope that South Korean investors would identify additional investment opportunities in the country.
During the meeting, Park Joo Bong extended his gratitude to Samdech Techo for the opportunity to meet, highlighting Cambodia's positive investment climate and describing it as both safe and increasingly appealing to South Korean investors.
He noted that South Korean investors are strongly interested in exploring investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, with cashew products emerging as a key area of focus.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed appreciation for the interest shown by South Korean investors in Cambodia, particularly in agricultural investment.
He emphasised that Cambodia possesses numerous products with substantial investment potential, particularly agricultural raw materials. He articulated the need for investors who can process these agricultural products for export to South Korea and global markets.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored that trade and investment are central to Cambodia's relationship with South Korea. He remarked that South Korean investor engagement would create additional avenues for investment in Cambodia.
In conclusion, Samdech Techo highlighted the robust ties between Cambodia and South Korea, describing the two nations as strategic partners. He expressed optimism that with the upcoming 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations, both countries could advance their partnership to a comprehensive strategic level.
