(Philippines): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Jude Aguilar, Chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Republic of the Philippines.
During the meeting, the PCCI chairman expressed his deep gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for taking time from his busy schedule to meet him and his delegation.
He briefed Samdech Thipadei on the strong cooperation with the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), demonstrated through the successful organisation of various business events and activities in the past, and informed him of plans to further strengthen and expand cooperation between the two chambers through more active business exchange visits.
The chairman expressed his satisfaction with the doubling of Philippines–Cambodia trade volume in the first quarter of 2026. He also informed Samdech Thipadei that the PCCI plans to organise a business mission to Cambodia in 2026 to explore further investment opportunities.
He highlighted that several Philippine companies have shown strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia across key potential sectors, including food packaging and processing, agritourism, and aviation, particularly in the development of resort projects in coastal provinces. He expressed confidence that strong cooperation between the chambers of both countries will generate more dynamic business and trade activities.
In response, Samdech Thipadei highly valued the cooperation between the two chambers and encouraged them to continue strengthening and expanding their ties and explore new opportunities for enhancing private sector connectivity, noting that the Royal Government of Cambodia stands ready to support the private sector.
Regarding agritourism, Samdech Thipadei highlighted Cambodia’s potential and the opportunity for both countries to link their agritourism sectors by connecting tourism markets between Cebu and Siem Reap, and between Cebu and Preah Sihanouk provinces. In this regard, he encouraged Cebu to continue discussions with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions on establishing direct flights between Cebu and Siem Reap.
He also emphasised the Royal Government’s commitment to maintaining a resilient, attractive, and secure investment environment in Cambodia.
In conclusion, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the chambers of both countries to further promote cooperation in order to explore new opportunities for expanding investment, business, and trade for even greater growth.
