(Philippines): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet attended a trilateral working breakfast with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Republic of the Philippines, on 8 May 2026.

During the meeting, the leaders of the three countries expressed their satisfaction with the close ties and progress of cooperation across all sectors. They highlighted the significance of the traditional breakfast meeting among the three Prime Ministers as an important platform for exchanging views and further enhancing strategic cooperation.

The three leaders emphasised that, amid the complex and evolving regional and global context, the continued strengthening of relations and expansion of cooperation among the three countries have become increasingly important.

The three prime ministers also discussed priorities and initiatives aimed at further enhancing cooperation in the areas of politics, security and defence, economy and trade, investment, physical infrastructure connectivity, energy connectivity, and tourism connectivity, including increasing direct flights among the three countries.

On the occasion, Cambodian prime minister emphasised the importance of promoting cooperation to strengthen supply chains based on the respective strengths of each country.

He also underlined the need to continue promoting physical infrastructure connectivity to facilitate cross-border travel and the movement of goods.

Regarding Laos, Samdech Thipadei urged the relevant authorities to accelerate the selection of a construction site for the bridge crossing the Tonle Ropov (Cambodia)-Tonle Selampao (Laos).

Regarding Viet Nam, Samdech Thipadei urged the relevant authorities to expedite the determination of the connection point between the Phnom Penh–Bavet Expressway project and the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway project.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei proposed conducting a feasibility study on electricity grid connectivity among the three countries through the utilization of existing transmission networks, and encouraged the relevant authorities to explore the possibility of developing joint tourism packages.

Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei invited the leaders of Laos and Viet Nam to attend the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host in November this year.
