(Banteay Meanchey): On 8 May 2026, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Defence Ministry Spokeswoman, announced that Lieutenant General Phat Vibolsopheak, Deputy Director-General of the General Department of Policy and Foreign Affairs and Director of the International Relations Department, led the Cambodian Liason Group (CLG) of Cambodia to attend a Turnover ceremony for the Head of Mission (HOM) of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) in Cambodia.
During the ceremony, held at Team Site 2 (TS-2) in Serei Saophoan City, Banteay Meanchey Province, outgoing Acting Head Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Amin Bin Baharom officially transferred his mandate to the incoming Head of Mission, Commodore Glenn Z. Dizon of the Philippines.
On the occasion, Commodore Glenn Z. Dizon reiterated his commitment to the mission, pledging to perform his duties actively and impartially while continuing to observe, verify, and report on the actual situation along the Cambodian-Thai border.
Cambodia reiterates its full support for the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), emphasizing the essential need to strengthen the AOT's role and mandate. This ensures the ceasefire and agreed measures between Cambodia and Thailand are implemented fully and effectively.
By welcoming friendly nations to assist in this task, Cambodia aims to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual trust. Furthermore, Cambodia continues to welcome assistance from friendly nations willing to support this vital mission.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirmed their firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on 27 December 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on 26 October 2025, and all other relevant agreements. This commitment is made to ensure rapid recovery and restore normalcy, and long-lasting peace and stability.
