(Philippines): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, on 7 May 2026 on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Philippines.

At the outset, the Singaporean prime minister expressed his pleasure at meeting Samdech Thipadei once again and highly valued the long-standing and fruitful relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore.

He noted that the meeting reflected the close ties and strong commitment of both countries to further strengthen and expand cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

In this regard, he reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to sustaining the momentum of the close relationship between the two countries, aiming to build it even more strongly.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed satisfaction with the continued progress of relations and cooperation between the two countries, including the recent entry into force of the second protocol amending the agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to taxes on Income, which will contribute to attracting more Singaporean investors to Cambodia.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the recent signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Food Security between the governments of both countries.

Cambodian prime minister expressed optimism that both countries would continue exploring new opportunities to further expand bilateral cooperation across all sectors and strengthen private-sector partnerships.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also informed the Singaporean prime minister that Cambodia would begin implementing the Military Conscription Law in 2026 and expressed hope that Cambodia would continue to receive experience-sharing from Singapore to support the smooth implementation of the law.

The two leaders also discussed the continued strengthening and expansion of cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, defence, and security, and exchanged views on several regional and international issues within the ASEAN and broader international frameworks.
