(Takeo): Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications and head of the Royal Government Working Group for Takeo Province, underscored the importance of strengthening digital skills to ensure technology systems are used effectively.

He made the remarks on Thursday (May 7) during the closing ceremony of a four-day digital skills training program on administrative work for key commune and sangkat officials, held at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

The training was organised by the Institute of Digital Governance under the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology, reflecting the Royal Government’s commitment to developing human resources and accelerating digital governance as Cambodia advances toward a digital economy and society.

Minister Vandeth highlighted the importance of equipping civil servants with practical digital competencies, including report preparation, operational data management, and monitoring and evaluation skills to improve administrative efficiency and public service delivery.

As technology adoption continues to grow, he urged local authorities at provincial, district, commune, and sangkat levels to strengthen their capacity and adapt to rapid technological change. He warned that even advanced systems can become ineffective if users lack the knowledge or willingness to engage with them.

The minister encouraged officials to actively apply and expand their digital skills to ensure faster, more effective, and responsive public services during Cambodia’s digital transformation.

He added that skilled officials should continue refining their expertise, those with basic knowledge should deepen their understanding, and newcomers should remain committed to learning and improvement.

In closing, Minister Vandeth praised the dedication of all trainees, including older participants who successfully completed the program, and encouraged them to use their newly acquired skills to better serve citizens in their communities.
