(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will lead a high-level delegation to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit, to be held from 7 to 8 May 2026 in Cebu, the Philippines, at the invitation of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines and Chair of ASEAN in 2026, according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (May. 5).
Prime Minister Hun Manet and First Lady Pich Chanmony Hun Manet will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, along with other deputy prime ministers, ministers and senior government officials, as well as business representatives from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the Cambodian Oknha Association.
Guided by the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”, the Summit will provide a platform for the ASEAN Leaders to discuss key issues related to the ASEAN Community Building, and the Way Forward, focusing on: (1) ensuring regional energy security and resilience, (2) stabilizing food security, and (3) safety of ASEAN nationals, as well as exchange of views on regional and international issues, with a view to fostering a peaceful, prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the prime minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with ASEAN counterparts to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and shared interests further.
