(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of the Royal Palace announced that King Norodom Sihamoni is recovering steadily following a two-week medical treatment period in Beijing, China.

According to the statement, the king has been under close monitoring and has received exemplary care from a professional medical team. Doctors have assessed that his condition is improving steadily.

With the utmost respect, the medical team has sought the king’s consent for discharge on 1 May 2026. Following his release, he will continue his recovery at the Royal Residence in Beijing and return to the hospital as needed for follow-up examinations and ongoing care.

King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk expressed their sincere gratitude to the two Supreme Patriarchs, monks, national leaders, officials, and the Cambodian people for their prayers and well wishes during his recovery.

The Royal Family noted that this support has contributed to the king’s progress toward a safe return to the kingdom in good health.
