(Phnom Penh): In his bilateral meeting with Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated China’s continued support for the Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project, according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Apr. 29).
According to Fresh AI, the Funan Techo Canal will span approximately 172.6 kilometres, linking the Mekong and Bassac rivers to the sea in Kep province. The route passes through Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, and Kep provinces.
With an estimated investment of USD 1.7 billion, the project is expected to drive the development of ports, special economic zones, irrigation systems, agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, and real estate. It will also improve flood control and increase freshwater fish production.
