(Phnom Penh): Cambodia called for adherence to international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, in particular respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, refraining from the threat or use of force, and the peaceful settlement of disputes under international law, according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Apr. 29).

In an increasingly complex global landscape marked by growing geopolitical rivalry and the resurgence of armed conflicts in many parts of the world, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn underscored the importance of upholding these fundamental principles at the 25th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting, held on 27–28 April 2026 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

These same principles also guide Cambodia’s position with respect to the situation along its border with Thailand.

Taking the opportunity, Cambodian foreign minister expressed Cambodia’s appreciation to the member states of ASEAN and the European Union for their support for the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as for ongoing efforts toward the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law.
