(Seoul): Khuon Phon Rattanak, Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, reaffirmed his commitment to fortifying cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in the areas of clean energy, green technology, and human resource development.
During the opening ceremony of a capacity-building training program tailored for Cambodian civil servants, focused on emerging technologies and e-mobility policy development, the ambassador underscored the significance of advancing Cambodia’s green transportation sector.
This program organised collaboratively by KOICA and the National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT), took place on Monday (Apr. 27) in Seoul as part of an Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative.
The initiative aims to bolster Cambodia’s national policy capacity and establish a comprehensive institutional framework for the management of electric vehicle (EV) batteries, encompassing all stages from production and utilization to collection, recycling, and reuse.
Participants included key officials from relevant ministries, such as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Environment, and Mines and Energy, who are integral to advancing green transportation initiatives.
The ambassador underlined that the advancement of e-mobility is vital not only for mitigating environmental pollution and addressing climate change but also as a crucial element for transforming Cambodia’s economy towards a sustainable and digital future.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of international collaboration, particularly with the Republic of Korea, in technology transfer, knowledge sharing, and human capital development, which provide a solid foundation for sustainable and competitive growth.
The Cambodian Embassy in Seoul remains steadfast in its commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation, with a focus on priority sectors such as clean energy, green technology, and human resource development, in alignment with Cambodia’s long-term vision for sustainable development, pollution reduction, and improved quality of life.
