(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, announced that the Cambodian Military Region 4 and Thai Army Area 2 held an informal meeting of the Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC), according to a press release seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Apr. 23).
The meeting commenced at 11:00 a.m. at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Border Checkpoint, Anlong Veng District, Oddar Meanchey Province.
The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nith Narong, Head of the Cambodian RBC Secretariat, while the Thai delegation was led by Major General Kampanat Waphansu, Head of the Thai RBC Secretariat.
During the informal meeting, both sides discussed the continued promotion of the full and effective implementation of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), dated 27 December 2025. This includes enhancing informal operational coordination and streamlining local conflict resolution facilitated by the Secretariats of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Cambodian Military Region 4 and Thai Army Area 2.
The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirmed its firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on 27 December 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on 26 October 2025, and all other relevant agreements aims to find a peaceful, just, and lasting solution in accordance with international law, as well as existing treaties and agreements between the two countries.
