(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun, on the occasion of their official visit to Cambodia to attend the inaugural Cambodia–China “2+2” Strategic Dialogue in Phnom Penh.
In a message posted on his social media on Wednesday (Apr. 22), Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that Cambodia and China are comprehensive strategic partners and steadfast “ironclad friends,” jointly committed to building an all-weather Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era.
The inaugural Cambodia–China “2+2” Strategic Dialogue, bringing together foreign and defence ministers from both countries, commenced on Wednesday (Apr. 22) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Phnom Penh.
The meeting was chaired by Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha, and co-chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun.
Cambodia and China agreed to establish this dialogue during the state visit of President Xi Jinping to Cambodia in April last year, with a view to promoting high-level strategic communication, deepening mutual political and security trust, and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. This new mechanism will serve as a key platform for exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest.
