(Phnom Penh): The Nokor Sankranta, which ran from April 13 to 19, attracted nearly 9 million tourists in Phnom Penh during and after the Khmer New Year celebrations, with both local and international attendees celebrating in a lively and peaceful atmosphere.

Dor Samphors, Spokesperson for the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, said during the Khmer New Year celebrations from April 14 April 16, Phnom Penh welcomed more than 4 million visitors. Key venues, including the former Phnom Penh International Airport, contributed to the event’s massive turnout.

After the celebrations ended, as many as 1.3 million people took part in the Nokor Sankranta activities on April 17. The April 18 activities were joined by more than 1.5 million people.

The sixth and final day of the event welcomed more than 1.4 million tourists, including 23,232 foreigners.

Authorities also ensured strong public health and safety measures, treating 2,379 minor medical cases with support from medical teams, ambulances, and mobile units, Dor Samphors added.

Officials confirmed the celebrations were conducted smoothly, with no major incidents, highlighting effective security and event management.
