(Phnom Penh): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun are set to meet with Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha in Phnom Penh on Wednesday (Apr. 22), marking the first-ever Cambodia–China “2+2” Strategic and Defence Dialogue.
This dialogue brings together both countries’ top diplomatic and defence officials to deepen bilateral cooperation.
According to Cambodian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Chann Rotana, the meeting aims to strengthen ties in line with agreements reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Cambodia in April 2025.
Key discussions will focus on defence and security cooperation, including joint efforts to combat human trafficking, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.
During their visit, the Chinese delegation will also pay courtesy calls on Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is also scheduled to conduct an official visit to Cambodia.
