(Phnom Penh): Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni will remain in Beijing for further medical treatment after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, according to an announcement from the Royal Palace on Friday (Apr. 10).

The statement said the diagnosis was made following thorough examinations by a medical team at a hospital in the People’s Republic of China. On doctors’ advice, the King must stay hospitalised and is not yet able to return to Cambodia.

Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk is accompanying him during the treatment period.

Chinese doctors have recommended continued observation and care for an additional one to two months.
