(Preah Vihear): The Preah Vihear Provincial Court has ordered the detention of three suspects accused of illegally logging in a protected natural area in Preah Vihear province, authorities said.
The Ministry of Environment said its officials, in cooperation with park rangers from the provincial Department of Environment, conducted an inspection and crackdown on natural resource crimes in the O’Skach area (Zone 94) of the Chhaeb–Preah Roka Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Choam Ksant district, on Thursday afternoon (Apr. 9).
Authorities arrested three suspects, identified as Nut Chea, Khun Sas and San Vi, for alleged involvement in illegal tree cutting. The case was subsequently referred to the Preah Vihear Provincial Court.
The court issued a detention order for the three suspects, who are now being held at the provincial prison, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved.
