(Phnom Penh): French President Emmanuel Macron will undertake an official visit to Cambodia in November, coinciding with the hosting of the Francophonie Summit, according to Ambassade de France au Cambodge’s social media on Thursday (Apr. 9).
President Macron made this announcement following a productive meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
In his statement, President Macron expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Manet for his participation in the recent One Health Summit in Lyon and for the fruitful discussions held between the two leaders in Paris.
He highlighted, "Cambodia and France share a profound and enduring historical connection that continues to strengthen in critical areas such as energy, health, and heritage."
President Macron further noted that the collaboration between Cambodia and France persists through the Francophonie organization.
Phnom Penh will host the next meeting after the 2024 summit in Villers-Cotterêts. The French president is looking forward to visiting there in November. He characterised this forthcoming visit as an excellent opportunity to strengthen further the friendship and close ties between the two nations.
