(Phnom Penh): Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Thipadei Khuon Sudary received Ülkü Kocaefe, outgoing Ambassador of Türkiye to Cambodia, for a courtesy and farewell call at the National Assembly Palace in Phnom Penh on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission in the Kingdom on Tuesday (Apr. 7).
Welcoming the ambassador, Samdech Khuon Sudary commended her diplomatic engagement and contributions to strengthening Cambodia–Türkiye relations, noting that bilateral ties have grown closer and more substantive, grounded in mutual respect and shared interests.
The president highlighted Türkiye’s strategic position as a bridge between Europe and Asia, underscoring shared foreign policy principles in promoting peace, security, and peaceful conflict resolution. She also expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s contributions to international diplomacy, particularly in mediation and conflict resolution.
Samdech Khuon Sudary also stressed that continued cooperation, along with adherence to international law and multilateralism, remains essential in addressing global uncertainties, including geopolitical tensions and energy challenges.
She recalled key milestones, including the 2018 official visit of Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Türkiye, which led to the establishment of Cambodia’s embassy in Ankara, officially opened in 2022, as well as recent high-level engagements. She noted that such exchanges have helped deepen cooperation across sectors.
The president also noted that Cambodia–Türkiye relations have continued to strengthen under Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, reflecting strong political commitment to deepening cooperation.
