(Phnom Penh): The Army Staff Talk and the Preliminary Planning Meeting (PPM) for Exercise “Angkor Sentinel” between the Royal Cambodian Army (RCA) and the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) were successfully conducted, yielding positive and constructive outcomes.
On Tuesday (Mar. 31), at the Royal Cambodian Army Headquarters, the meetings were co-chaired by Lieutenant General Heng Makara, Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, and Major General Giles J.S. Cornelia, Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific.
During the Army Staff Talk, both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and training engagements through Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE) and Train-the-Trainer (TTT) programs across key areas, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance, jungle warfare, and the enhancement of staff-level planning and operational coordination skills.
Regarding Exercise “Angkor Sentinel,” the theme was proposed as “Together for Relief, Peace, and Recovery.” The exercise will include both Command Post Exercise (CPX) and Field Training Exercise (FTX) components, and is tentatively scheduled for early 2027.
The meetings concluded with the signing of the Minutes of Meeting, reflecting the shared commitment of both sides to further advance military cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
